- Purpose : The policy is designed to protect participants in its events and programs by requiring criminal background checks and sex offender registries for employees, volunteers, and others who interact directly with athletes.
- Application : Applies to employees, coaches, assistants, adult athletes, and other persons in frequent contact with athletes, including journalists and third-party contractors in roles of authority or direct contact.
- Vetting Process : Background checks must be conducted prior to an individual's participation in Best In PR Showcase activities and repeated every two years.
- Venue and Media Requirements : Affiliated venues and media members accessing these events must also complete background checks to ensure athlete safety.
- Vendors and Partners : Best In PR Showcase requires that third parties such as contractors and community organizations with which it partners also comply with these requirements.
- Verification Components : Verification includes identity validation, criminal history records in multiple jurisdictions, and watch lists, among other components.
- Eligibility and Appeals : If the background check results affect eligibility, the individual may receive an “approved” or “denied” status. Those with “denied” results can appeal through the Best In PR Showcase appeals process.
